Licence and updates

Your licence

fkdr checks your key with fkdr.dev when the game starts. A second or two at start-up is normal and does not mean your key was turned down.

  • Your key must be linked to your Discord account with /key link in discord.gg/fkdr before fkdr works; see Managing your key.
  • Your licence belongs to your computer. A key works on the computer(s) it is set up on, and every Minecraft account on that computer is covered. Each key includes 1 device slot; the first launch on a new computer takes one. Playing on a different connection does not take another slot. When every slot is in use you are told the key is already set up on N other devices, until you free one on your key page at fkdr.dev/redeem or with /key unbind in the Discord.
  • Your key page shows which Minecraft account last used the key. The licence is tied to the computer, not to the account.

Your computer's code

/fkdr licence shows a short code for this computer under device. It says nothing about you or your computer, so you can read it out to support without giving anything away.

/fkdr licence shows where your licence stands and the last answer from fkdr.dev. It works even when you are not licensed.

What the chat messages mean

you see what it means what to do
nothing about the licence the key is good play
already set up on N other devices every device slot on the key is taken free one at fkdr.dev/redeem or with /key unbind; after two, open a ticket in the Discord
Link your Discord to use fkdr the key is not linked to a Discord account join discord.gg/fkdr and run /key link with your key or the link code from your key page; see below if you lost the key
unknown key a typo, or the wrong key re-enter it with /fkdr key <key>
expired the plan ran out renew at fkdr.dev/store with the same key, or in a ticket in the Discord
revoked the key was reset, or switched off for good /key view in Discord shows your current key
licence server unreachable fkdr.dev is down or busy, or your internet dropped nothing; it clears by itself, see below

If fkdr.dev is down or busy, that is never shown as "you need a licence".

When fkdr.dev cannot be reached

If fkdr.dev is down, chat says so. fkdr keeps trying by itself, and when fkdr.dev is back you get licence server is back, verified. This is only about fkdr.dev being down: a key that has been switched off stays off.

Genuine copies only

Get fkdr only from your own key page:

  • Copies from anywhere else do not work.
  • Keys caught shared or resold are switched off for good, with no refund, and the Discord accounts involved are banned.

fkdr on another computer or for a friend needs another key.

Updates

You install once and new builds arrive on their own.

A new build takes two restarts. The first launch gets it, the second runs it. If anything goes wrong, you keep playing on the build you already had.

fkdr updates itself on Forge too, with the same two restarts. The difference is that it installs as you close the game rather than as you open it. Quit normally and the next launch is on the new build; if the game is killed, the install waits until the next normal close. You never download or move a file yourself.

The chat greeting on join says which build you are on and whether it is the latest, and the menu's top bar shows outdated beside the edition name while a newer build is out. Hover it for the version and the close, open, close, relaunch cycle that finishes the update. See Auto updates.

Managing your key

  • Your key page at fkdr.dev/redeem lists the devices the key is set up on and frees one; /key unbind in the Discord does the same. You can do that twice yourself. After that, open a ticket in discord.gg/fkdr and ask for a reset.
  • Link the key to your Discord account; fkdr does not work until you do. Run /key link in discord.gg/fkdr (paste the key itself, or a link code from your key page), then use /key to check, unlink or reset it. One Discord account holds one key. Unlinking stops the key working in game until it is linked again.
  • If you lose your key, run /key view in the Discord. If that does not find it, open a support ticket in the Discord.
  • Timed plans (1, 3, 6 or 12 months) expire at the end of the plan; your key page shows when. Lifetime keys do not expire.
  • If your key leaks, run /key reset in the Discord before somebody sets it up on their own computer and takes one of its slots.
