Render

In the enhanced edition the menu has no Render tab. These modules are listed in the enhancements tab: FullBright, NoHurtCam and DamageEffects under screen, Cape, Pentagram and ChinaHat under cosmetics. Ping is on the appearance tab's hud page. Hide the enhancements tab (Interface → HideEnhancements) and the Render tab comes back with them in it.

FullBright default off

Lights everything at full brightness while enabled, whatever your brightness slider says, on Lunar, Forge and vanilla alike. Your own brightness setting is left as it was and comes back the moment you switch it off. Shader packs do their own lighting, so it has no effect under a shader. No settings.

Ping default on

Your ping as a number on your own TAB row and on the HUD, with a rolling graph, and other players' average ping on their TAB rows.

Your own ping is the figure the server sends for you when that figure is real, as it is in Hypixel's lobbies. In Hypixel games the server hides it (it sends 1), so fkdr shows your Aurora average instead: the mean of your daily averages over the last 60 days, the same figure OthersPing shows for everyone else (asked on your Aurora key when you have one). If Aurora has nothing for you, fkdr measures it every few seconds with the same ping the multiplayer server list sends, on a separate connection. Nothing is sent on your game connection. /fkdr ping shows the live figure.

Other players' ping comes from Aurora (OthersPing), because Hypixel hides every other player's latency in TAB. Their row shows the average of their daily average pings over the last 60 days. A player Aurora has no recent data on, and a nicked player, gets no number. It works without a key; with your Aurora API key (Configs → api keys, see Anti-sniper keys) the lookups use your key instead. The numbers sit in a straight column with or without Stats on.

The module also raises the packet-loss alarm: when nothing has arrived from the server for longer than LossThreshold, fkdr warns you once, then at most once every 3 seconds while it lasts.

setting type default description
TabPing toggle on Show your own live ping as a number on your TAB row.
OthersPing toggle on Show other players' average ping on their TAB row, from Aurora. Works without a key; uses your Aurora API key when you have one.
ShowMs toggle off Write 43ms instead of 43, on your row and everyone else's. Off keeps the rows short.
HideBars toggle off Hide vanilla's five-bar ping icon.
OwnPing toggle on Show your own ping on the HUD. Drag it with /fkdr hud.
Graph toggle on Draw the last thirty readings under your own ping. Visible when OwnPing.
Smooth advanced toggle on Show your average ping instead of the latest raw reading.
PacketLoss toggle on Warn when nothing has arrived from the server for longer than LossThreshold. May not work on every server.
LossThreshold 200–3000 ms 500 How long the server has to go quiet before it counts as packet loss. Nothing below 200 ms is accepted, from the menu, /fkdr set or a script, since shorter gaps are normal between packets. Visible when PacketLoss.
LossIgnoreLimbo toggle on Stay quiet while there is no sidebar scoreboard (limbo sends almost nothing). Visible when PacketLoss.
LossAlert Chat / Notification / All Chat Where the warning goes: a chat line, a notification card, or both. It repeats at most every 3 seconds while the silence lasts. Visible when PacketLoss.

If LossAlert is set to Notification but the HUD or its notifications element is switched off, the warning falls back to chat rather than going unseen.

Diagnostic: /fkdr ping (your live measurement, and for OthersPing how many players have a number and any problem with your Aurora key). HUD element: ping.

Cape default off

Wear any cape from the catalogue. Client-side only: nobody else sees it, it is never sent anywhere, and it does not touch your Minecraft account. The catalogue comes from fkdr.dev, so new capes arrive without an update. It includes Blue Creeper, drawn from the Minecraft Dungeons II cape, which has no Java texture yet, the capes shown on every player at Christmas 2010 and New Year 2011, the MINECON 2011 cape vote designs that were never released, the April Fools 2023 caeps, the Xbox 360 capes and a few of Mojang's cape test textures.

setting type default description
Cape dropdown None Which cape to wear.
Search text empty Type part of a name to narrow the list: minecon, mojang, 2016. Typing also selects the best match live.
ApplyTo Self · Everyone Self Wear it yourself, or paint it on every player you can see.

A cape of your own

The module has two buttons under its settings:

  • use my own cape → choose… opens your computer's own file dialog. The picture is checked, saved and worn straight away.
  • my capes folder → open shows you that folder, for adding several at once. A file you drop in appears in the list while the menu is still open.

It stays on your computer. Nothing is uploaded, and only you ever see it.

What it takes: a PNG, twice as wide as it is tall, with both sides a power of two (64×32, 128×64, 256×128), and the cape itself in the top-left corner (the top-left 22×17 is the part the game draws). A 32×16 is doubled for you, and a square sheet is read as the 64×32 layout inside it. Anything else is refused with a line saying exactly what was wrong, and a file that is not really a PNG is refused whatever it is called.

Diagnostic: /fkdr capes.

Pentagram default off

A slowly turning five-pointed star on the ground under you, with an optional ring around it. A wall in front of you hides it, and it hides nothing.

setting type default description
Size 0.4–4.0 1.4 How far the star reaches from your feet, in blocks.
Speed 0–5 1.0 Turns per ten seconds. Zero stands still.
Ring toggle on Draw the circle the star sits inside.
OtherPlayers toggle off Draw one under everybody, not only you.
LineWidth advanced 0.5–6 2 How thick the lines are, in pixels.
RGB toggle on Cycle through the spectrum.
FollowAccent toggle on Use the menu's accent colour. Visible when RGB is off.
Colour colour violet Used when RGB and FollowAccent are both off.
Opacity 10–100 85 How solid the lines are.

ChinaHat default off

A wide conical hat over your head. Client-side only; nobody else sees it.

setting type default description
Size 0.2–1.6 0.65 How wide the brim is, in blocks.
Height 0.05–1.0 0.25 How tall the cone is.
Quality Umbrella · Low · Normal · High · Smooth Normal How many segments. Umbrella is deliberately faceted.
Spin toggle on Turn the hat with your body.
FirstPerson toggle on Draw it in first person too, where you see its underside.
OtherPlayers toggle off Give everybody one.
RGB toggle on A rainbow round the brim.
FollowAccent toggle on Use the menu's accent colour. Visible when RGB is off.
Colour colour pink Used when RGB and FollowAccent are both off.
Opacity 10–100 80 How solid it is.

DamageEffects default off

Floating numbers where somebody lost health, and a few sparks with them.

Only health lost is shown, never healing, and a player or mob that has just come into range shows no number for its first change.

setting type default description
Numbers toggle on Float the amount over whoever took it.
Particles toggle on Scatter a few sparks at the same place.
Self toggle on Show your own damage too.
Lifetime 400–3000 1200 How long a number stays, in milliseconds.
Rise 0–2 0.8 How far a number drifts upward before it fades, in blocks.
Scale 0.4–2.5 1.0 How big the numbers are.
Minimum advanced 0.1–5 0.5 Ignore drops smaller than this, in half-hearts.

Your own damage is red; everyone else's shades from yellow to orange with how big the hit was.

NoHurtCam default off

Sets how far the camera tilts when you take damage. The game tilts it by 14; while this is on it tilts by Multiplier instead, so 0 takes the shake away and a negative number tilts the other way.

setting type default description
Multiplier -40–40 0 How far it tilts: 14 is the game's own, 0 is none, below 0 tilts the other way.

HUD elements

The music readout lives on the HUD rather than being a module of its own. Drag it where you like in the HUD editor.

now playing shows the song your music app is playing: the album cover on the left, the title and the artist beside it (a paused song says so and its cover dims). It works with most music apps and browsers; the table below says what it can read on each system. It draws nothing when nothing is playing, and if it ever stops showing, it comes back on its own with the next song.

The cover comes from your player when it shares one. When it does not, it is looked up by artist and title on Apple's iTunes search. Only the artist and title are sent.

What it can read

It asks the operating system, not any one app, so anything that tells your computer what it is playing shows up.

Windows macOS Linux
Spotify (the app) yes yes yes
Apple Music no yes no
A browser (SoundCloud, YouTube, Bandcamp, anything with a play button) yes no yes
Any other player yes, if it uses the Windows media session (most do) no yes, if it speaks MPRIS (most do)
  • Windows reads what your media keys and the lock screen show, and a paused browser tab cannot hide your music. Spotify, foobar2000, MusicBee, Winamp and VLC work too. With Spotify's Show desktop overlay when using media keys setting off, you see the time played without the song's length; with it on, both show.
  • Linux reads any player that supports MPRIS.
  • macOS works with Spotify and Music. It needs one permission from macOS: allowing your launcher to control Spotify or Music. When macOS is refusing it, or is waiting for you to answer its question (often behind the game window), chat says so once and names the launcher and where to allow it. A SoundCloud or YouTube tab cannot be shown on a Mac. Spotify and Music work fully, timeline and buttons included.

Where the music is coming from is named as the site rather than the browser (SoundCloud, not Chrome).

The timestamp reads 1:23 / 3:21 by default. It keeps counting between checks, stands still while the song is paused, and never runs past the end.

Shuffle, back, play and skip buttons sit on the readout (shuffle only for a player that supports it), and they appear only while an fkdr screen is open (the menu or the HUD editor), never while you are playing. They drive whatever is playing through your own system's media controls. On macOS the shuffle button shows the shuffle state Spotify or Music reports back, not just the last press.

The card. With MediaCoverSize on Large (the default) the album cover is the card's centrepiece, a square as tall as the card, with the song, the progress bar, a visualiser and the lyrics in one column beside it. On a song change the old cover stays until the new one has loaded, then fades across.

  • Visualiser: a strip that moves with the music in one of seven styles: Bars (rounded bars with a dot that holds each peak), Mirror (the bars grown both ways from the middle), Wave (a smooth glowing ribbon), Fill (a soft filled curve), Glow (a single glowing line), Sparks (a glowing line that throws sparks on the beat) and Ring (a glow around the cover). Every style brightens on the beat, and the accent edge brightens and the cover lifts (MediaPulse). It moves with your computer's sound output. On Linux it needs parec or pw-record. On a Mac it needs macOS 14.2 or newer, and the first time, macOS asks once to allow fkdr-audio to record system audio; say yes and the visualiser moves. Say no, or on an older macOS, and it stays still.
  • Synced lyrics: the line being sung, timed to where the song is, in one of five styles: Lines (the next line fades in under the current one), Karaoke (each word lit as it is sung, the words still to come dimmed), Word by word (each word fades up as it is sung), One word (only the word being sung, larger) and Single line (only the line being sung, fading into the next). They are looked up on fkdr.dev once per song; a song without synced lyrics shows a short note and the band closes. MediaLyricsOffset moves them earlier or later if your player runs ahead or behind.
  • Every language: titles, artists and lyrics in Polish, French, Czech, Turkish and other Latin-alphabet languages draw properly, and Cyrillic and Greek do too in the Inter and Roboto Condensed faces. Covers are matched to the named artist, also when the artist is written in another script.

Card parts. Every part of the card switches on and off by itself: the cover, the song's title, the artist, where it is playing from, the time, the progress bar, the buttons, the visualiser, the beat pulse and the lyrics. The card closes up around whatever is left, with no empty gaps, and eases to its new size: switch everything off but the title and it is a single line; switch off every word and keep the cover, and it is just the album art. Hide while paused takes the card away while the music is paused and brings it back when you press play.

All of it is set under appearance → music, in seven sections: layout (lines, order, align, background, font, hide while paused), song (title, artist, source, time), cover, lyrics, visualiser (with the beat pulse), controls (buttons and progress bar) and colours. Each part's switch heads its section, and its own options show under it while it is on. The setting names below are what /fkdr set HUD … takes:
